The Duke of Edinburgh Gold Residential is all about trying something new, meeting people and stepping outside your comfort zone. But what if you could also spend the week getting to know teenagers from around the world?
At English Study Camps by WSE, students can complete their Gold Residential at Lord Wandsworth College in Hampshire, joining an international summer camp where learning continues well beyond the classroom.
A Week of New Experiences
Spending time away from home with people you've never met is an important part of the Gold Residential. It might feel a little daunting at first, but it's also an opportunity to become more independent and build confidence.
Throughout the week, students take part in lessons, group projects and social activities. Courses such as Future Business Leaders and Future Changemakers encourage students to think creatively, share opinions and work together on new ideas.
There is also time to enjoy camp life, join evening activities and get to know other students.
Making Friends from Around the World
One of the things that makes this programme different is the chance to meet students from a wide range of countries.
Living and learning together gives teenagers the opportunity to hear different perspectives, learn about other cultures and form friendships they might never have made otherwise.
It's this international atmosphere that makes the residential particularly interesting, especially for students who enjoy meeting new people.
More Than Completing an Award
While completing the Gold Residential is the main goal, students often take away much more from their week.
From speaking up in group discussions to making friends in an unfamiliar environment, the small challenges of everyday camp life can make a real difference to their confidence.
For anyone planning their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Residential in summer 2027, English Study Camps by WSE offers the opportunity to complete this part of the award while being part of an international summer school.
