Our Team

PAUL GREAVES

Director of Young Learners

I have been lucky enough to work with young people since graduating from university. I spent eight years as a PE Teacher and Head of Sport at an international boarding school and then moved into various school leadership and management positions in the UK, USA and Cyprus. I first joined WSE in the summer of 2016 and helped set up our inaugural Junior Summer School which was a huge success, I then returned in 2018 where I managed the Junior Summer Programme and where we opened our second centre for the 2019 summer. I have now returned for my third time having relocated abroad to the USA for a few years and then more recently working within the Higher Education sector managing admissions and student recruitment for a group of universities. Having worked in education, specifically international education, for over 20 years, I am passionate about welcoming young learners to the UK and seeing them enjoy their time here in the UK. Coming back to WSE and knowing the core values of the school and how this creates a fantastic atmosphere is something I thoroughly enjoy, and I look forward to growing our young learners programme and welcoming even more students from across the world. Away from work, I am an avid runner and when not at my desk you can find me running around the Oxfordshire countryside or taking my dog, Harter, for a walk.

SUSI WRIGHT

Director of Studies

Wimbledon School of English

Hi, I am Susi, the Director of Studies. I have been working in the ELT industry since 2006, and have spent time working and living in Thailand, Australia, Bournemouth and London. Throughout this time I have had extensive experience as a teacher, a teacher-trainer, and as an academic manager. I am a qualified CELTA and CertTESOL trainer, and hold a Diploma in ELT Management from Trinity/English UK. I am highly customer-focused with a keen eye for detail, and extremely keen on professional development for both myself and my teams. I look forward to helping you achieve your language goals here at Wimbledon School of English!

Leandra Meddings

Director of Studies

Lord Wandsworth College Explorers

I have been working in English Language Teaching since 2002 as a teacher, teacher trainer, content writer and editor. My two main specialisms are teaching for Exams and teaching Young Learners, with the latter being my true passion. As a Young Leaners and Bilingual Education specialist, I have trained and managed teachers extensively, learning greatly from all of them. So I’m thrilled to be Summer DoS for the LWC Explorers Summer Camp.

What I love most about teaching English is the invaluable opportunity to learn from the brilliant multicultural people I have the pleasure to call students. I am delighted to be part of a school where language learning is taken seriously and I can see the academic team tirelessly working together to help students achieve their learning goals. WSE is definitely how I have always imagined a fantastic language school. I am interested in discourse analysis and special needs education, and I firmly believe we can use the languages we speak to be our best selves and promote peace in the world. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music, reading biographies and watching films. I also love meditating and going for walks where I can get in touch with nature.

Eddie Baldwin

Director of Studies

Lord Wandsworth College Flyers

I'm Eddie. I live in sunny Spain and have been teaching for nearly 20 years. I have taught many different age groups, and in companies too. I wasn't always a teacher; I used to work in darkrooms developing films for fashion photographers. I have also worked as a bike messenger in London, but I think teaching is my favourite job.

I am an animal lover, and dogs have to be my favourite. That is my mum's dog in the photo. He is called Oscar, and he likes to climb on people's heads.

I'm mad about punk music and used to have a mohican. I like all types of music, but punk is what I always have on my playlist.

I love to dance and have been in a few shows, which are somewhere on YouTube.

Duncan MacInnes

Academic Project Manager & Teacher

I've been teaching English since 1997 and have been in language teaching management since 2004. I have taught and managed in schools in Japan, Italy and Vietnam. I came back to the UK permanently in 2010 and since October of that year I've been working for WSE. While I enjoyed my time living and working overseas, I have no plans to do so again for the foreseeable future and I am enjoying teaching and interacting with a wide range of students here at WSE. As well as in the classroom, you may see me in the academic office or leading a social programme excursion to Cambridge or to the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Club. I look forward to seeing you here in whatever capacity I meet you.

Gina Edens

Centre Manager

Lord Wandsworth College

My name is Gina and I've been working in summer camps for 11 years, 7 of those as a Centre Manager. I really enjoy the summer camp environment because it's such a fun and unique experience. I love watching the students making friends with other students from all over the world and improving not only their English but also their life skills. It makes the job so worthwhile.

In my free time I love studying philosophy, reading, cooking, going to the beach where I live, in Sicily and spending time with my lovely husband and our 5 mischievous cats.

Benita Wakefield

Centre Manager

Wimbledon

Hi, my name is Benita, and I am really looking forward to welcoming students and staff to our English Summer Camp programme in Wimbledon this summer. This will be my 15th year working at an English Summer Camp, and I can’t wait!

I have been working in the field of English Language teaching since retraining as a teacher in 2003. Since then, I have worked in Japan, Poland, Italy, and the UK as a teacher, teacher trainer, and academic manager. Before teaching, I worked as a production manager in the theatre, particularly with young people’s theatre companies. I have always enjoyed working with and supporting young people, whether in a learning or arts environment.

My other passions are British culture, the English language, the great outdoors, running, cycling, and most of all, rugby – watching, not playing!

Stewart Brown

Football Academy Head Coach

Lord Wandsworth College

I began coaching seriously in 1994 when I was managing a grassroots mens amateur side in Stockport Greater Manchester.

The route I took was the coach education pathway not as a professional player, which is a much harder route. Glad I took this pathway too.

I am currently working with Manchester United as a development coach with the museum delivering birthday parties. In my 2nd spell now that's my role. Previously developed players within the soccer schools programme and Foundation.

I am also currently developing players at Rochdale AFC within the Community Trust and Academy.

Oscar Suarez

Welfare Manager

Lord Wandsworth College Explorers

Hello everybody,

I am Oscar, I am from Spain and I am delighted to be with you this summer. I am very enthusiastic about meeting new people and learning about everybody and every new situation. We are always learning and it is fascinating.

You will always be really welcome to have a chat with me and enjoy a cup of coffee. I love interacting and when everybody is happy. My motto is ¨There is one life so the more you experience, the better´

I am very proud  to say that I have been in this industry since I was a student (more than 15 years), and I had the chance to be in so many positions that I have leant from lots of different experiences;  from international group leader with Spanish companies to management positions with other international companies. This fact has made me an open minded person and chameleon-like.

I am currently teaching  English in a school in my region in the North of Spain(Asturias). I have studied a degree in English and Spanish at University of Oviedo, however teaching is not enough I have always been doing simultaneous jobs like protocol assistant or management in official ceremonies or international events.

Finally , I am looking forward to meeting you all and making you feel welcomed.

Nicole Major

Welfare and Student Services Manager

Lord Wandsworth College Flyers

Hi, I’m Nicole, and I’m excited to be joining the English Study Camps team at Lord Wandsworth College as Welfare and Student Services Manager this summer.

.

I have a strong background in safeguarding, student welfare, and team leadership. Most recently, I worked in adoption support services, where I helped adoptive families, managed sensitive cases, and coordinated with education and health services to meet children’s needs. I’ve also led teams in fast-paced commercial environments, where I managed staff, handled customer concerns, and supported wellbeing under pressure.

My experience spans education, social care, and youth services—including roles with NHS education services and the UK's youth summer camp initiative - the National Citizenship Service. I’m passionate about creating safe, inclusive environments where young people feel supported and listened to. In my spare time I enjoy hiking and baking - especially banana bread.

I’m looking forward to helping students have a positive, safe, and memorable experience at Lord Wandsworth College.

Ruth Volker

House Parent

Lord Wandsworth College Explorers

Hi,

I'm Ruth Volker, originally from sunny South Africa. With 15 years of experience in teaching and facilitating, my expertise lies in early childhood education. Additionally, I've earned certifications in sports and a valuable CELTA certification. Previously, I taught English in Hong Kong, and I absolutely loved my years abroad as they allowed me to learn more about Asian cultures. I appreciate exploring diverse cultures and meeting new people and students.

I am passionate about the outdoors, a keen pianist, and my favourite pastime is playing football or cricket with my sons. I'm excited to create unforgettable moments with our group leaders and students, inspiring and motivating them towards future growth, development, and of course, having loads of fun.

Anna Basing

Excursion and Activities Manager

Wimbledon

Hi I’m Anna, and I’m incredibly excited for all the trips we will be going on this summer!

I’ve worked with Japanese university students in English summer schools, and spent the last few years working with young people as a tennis coach alongside my studies. At university I organised a lot of events, big and small, and I loved seeing everyone having a great time, so I’m really looking forward to making sure all the trips and excursions we have planned are really fun and interesting.

I’ve spent the last year travelling around Japan and South America, seeing diverse cultures and environments, and meeting such lovely people. Unfortunately I can’t travel forever, so when at home I love cooking, reading with a nice hot drink, or relaxing on a walk with my dog, Scout.
