Bringing science, technology and creativity together through practical learning at a British boarding school.
English Study Camps by WSE is introducing a new STEAM & Academic Summer Programme at Lord Wandsworth College in Hampshire, taking place from 11 to 24 July 2027.
Designed for international students aged 13 to 17, this two week programme offers a different approach to summer learning, combining academic subjects with practical projects and the opportunity to experience life at a traditional British boarding school.
What is STEAM and Why Does It Matter?
STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics. Rather than studying these subjects separately, STEAM brings them together through practical challenges that encourage students to think creatively, experiment and solve real problems.
From coding and robotics to engineering and art and design, students have the chance to explore how different subjects connect and how their knowledge can be applied beyond the classroom.
This approach helps students develop important skills such as critical thinking, teamwork and problem solving, while encouraging curiosity and independent thinking.
Putting Ideas into Practice
The programme includes 20 hours of STEAM tuition per week, taught by specialist teachers from Lord Wandsworth College.
Students will take part in practical projects and explore subjects including Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Art & Design and Enterprise & Entrepreneurship.
Alongside their lessons, students will experience British boarding school life, with sports, excursions, outdoor adventures and an overnight camping experience.
The programme is an opportunity to develop new academic interests, practise English in an international environment and gain insight into studying in the UK.
